What hopepunk means Is standing up for something that you believe in. Aslo it could be standing up for people that are down. You could say the main genre is something that is really caring for you and you think you should stand up for it.

Naturalism, realism is almost the same things but realism is more about life when naturalism more like a chronicle of despair.  modernism is like a literal period after realism.
